Hugh Toorish Band

The  Clipper Carlton  Showband was formed out of the break up of the Hugh Tourish band
The younger members of this band, based in Strabane,
persuaded Toorish to change the whole approach to dance music.
They discarded their seats and their music stands.
Created  arrangements of the Top Twenty exactly like the record and introduced comedy routines.
Most importantly, they began to communicate and interact with their audience.
Originally known as Hugh Tourish and the Carlton, they decided to add the word Clipper,
a name that was derived from the famous flying boats that used Lough Erne
